Complying with Critical Materials Restrictions for Defense Contractors
Restrictions on the sourcing of critical materials are becoming increasingly important for defense contractors and their suppliers. With significant changes coming on January 1, 2027, contractors need to understand not only what the rules require, but also the state of available compliant materials and what options exist when compliant materials are unavailable.
This Boot Camp will review:
- The statutory and regulatory framework underlying DFARS 252.225-7052, its restrictions on the delivery of certain critical materials, and how those restrictions differ from other national security sourcing restrictions;
- What changes take effect on January 1 and what contractors should be doing now to prepare;
- Supply chain policy developments including the Administration’s July 20 Executive Order;
- The practical realities of sourcing compliant magnets and other critical materials; and
- When and how contractors may seek waivers or other relief when compliant materials are unavailable.
