Anna Gomez Named Chair Emeritus of FCC’s Communications Equity and Diversity Council
Washington, DC – Wiley, a preeminent Washington, DC law firm, is pleased to announce that Anna M. Gomez has been named Chair Emeritus of the Federal Communications Commission’s (FCC) Communications Equity and Diversity Council (CEDC). Gomez is a key member of Wiley’s Telecom, Media & Technology and National Security practices, and is co-chair of the firm’s Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) Practice.
Gomez, who is representing the Hispanic National Bar Association, was designated to her new role by FCC Acting Chairwoman Jessica Rosenworcel ahead of its first meeting to be held on November 3, 2021. Gomez served as immediate past Chair of the FCC’s re-chartered Advisory Committee on Diversity and Digital Empowerment (ACDDE). She previously was Vice Chair of the ACDDE.
In welcoming Gomez as Chair Emeritus of the CEDC, Rosenworcel stated: “We owe Anna a debt of gratitude for her leadership of the ACDDE. We are so pleased that she will continue to participate in the CEDC and share her expertise on these important issues going forward.”
Gomez is a former Deputy Assistant Secretary for Communications and Information for the National Telecommunications and Information Administration of the U.S. Department of Commerce. She advises clients in regulatory, policy, and transactional matters related to domestic and international telecommunications and unmanned aircraft systems. Gomez was a past chair of Wiley's Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee, and currently serves as Secretary of the Federal Communications Bar Association (FCBA) and co-Chair of the FCBA’s Women’s Leadership Committee.
