Wiley Rein Named an “International Trade Group of the Year” by Law360 for Fourth Consecutive Year
For the fourth year in a row, Wiley Rein’s International Trade Practice has been named an “International Trade Group of the Year” by Law360. The Team, chaired by Alan H. Price, is the only group representing petitioners and domestic industries in trade cases that was recognized for four consecutive years, according to the publication. Wiley Rein’ s Team was one of five International Trade groups in the country selected by Law360.
Wiley Rein is “at the forefront of identifying novel trade barriers and unfair conduct, and participating in the development of laws to address them,” Law360 said in a January 23 profile. Law360 cited the Group’s successful challenges of foreign companies’ and governments’ unfair trade practices, including a victory in one of the largest trade remedy cases ever against China.
Noting that Wiley Rein does not have offices in China and does not represent Chinese interests in tariff cases, Law360 said the firm has a “freedom from conflicts of interest” that enables its attorneys to aggressively pursue trade cases on behalf U.S. clients. The Group’s exclusive advocacy for domestic industries sets Wiley Rein apart from most other firms in Washington, DC, Mr. Price told Law360 in an interview. “We’re proud of the fact that we represent folks trying to keep jobs in the United States,” he said.
“Our group has chosen to represent U.S. companies and U.S. industry, and to build long-term relationships there,” International Trade partner Timothy C. Brightbill told Law360. Wiley Rein’s International Trade Practice is also one of the city’s largest and most diverse, according to the article.
In addition to trade remedy cases, the Practice also focuses on export controls, sanctions, foreign investment, and trade policy. “We deal with macro- and micro-issues,” Mr. Price said. “A client might have a discrete issue with a particular product, but we also look for long-term solutions to structural problems in the international economy.”
Wiley Rein’ s Team was selected by a panel of Law360 editors who reviewed 675 submissions across 27 practice areas from across the nation.
