Press Release

Wiley Rein’s Election Law & Government Ethics Practice and Chair Jan Baran Rank Among Nation’s Best

June 19, 2007

The 2007 edition of Chambers USA:  America’s Leading Lawyers for Business recognizes Wiley Rein’s Election Law practice as being in the top tier of the nation’s political law practices and singles out practice chair Jan Baran as the top “Leading Lawyer” in the field.

In recommending the group, Chambers reports that while “best known as the firm of choice for many Republican Party organizers,” Wiley Rein’s team has “responded swiftly to the growing market for advice to corporations and independent advocacy groups.”

“Leading Lawyer” Jan Baran is praised for his more than 30 years of hill experience.  Chambers reports that he advises “an array of leading PACs on their advocacy work,” and that “leading corporations turn to him to conduct internal compliance investigations and he remains an active presence in litigation.”

The Chambers ratings are based on extensive interviews of law firms’ clients, colleagues and competitors.  Inclusion in the directory is determined through a rigorous vetting process whereby Chambers researchers evaluate law firms and attorneys on a number of factors.
