Wiley Files Comments for Competitive Energy Associations Regarding DOJ’s Anticompetitive Regulations Task Force

Washington, DC – Wiley, on behalf of four competitive energy trade associations, submitted comments to the U.S. Department of Justice regarding its new Task Force on anticompetitive regulations. The Task Force’s efforts will have significant implications for the competitive energy sector in wholesale and retail energy markets.

In comments filed May 27, the Retail Energy Advancement League, the Electric Power Supply Association, the Retail Energy Supply Association, and the Energy Professionals Association urged the elimination of anticompetitive laws and regulations that undermine free market competition. The associations, which collectively represent the nation’s competitive energy supply sector, are seeking a “level playing field” to challenge “incumbent energy monopolies.”

The comments highlighted opportunities for the two-month-old Task Force to promote innovation and push the energy industry toward more free-market practices by facilitating the deployment of artificial intelligence infrastructure, encouraging the repeal of burdensome regulatory schemes, and supporting state-level policy changes.
