Kendra Norwood Lays Groundwork for National Bar Association Government Procurement Section with CLE Panel at Annual Convention
Washington, DC — Wiley Rein LLP’s Kendra P. Norwood, an attorney in the Government Contracts Practice, organized and participated in the first-ever government contracts CLE panel during the National Bar Association’s (NBA) Annual Convention, which was held in New Orleans from July 28 to August 3, 2018.
The August 1 panel – “A Look Inside the Little-Known World of Government Contracts Law” – featured Chief Judge Jeri K. Somers and Judge Beverly M. Russell of the U.S. Civilian Board of Contract Appeals; Chika Duru, General Counsel of Trusted Health Plan-DC; Charlie Bingham, Corporate Counsel at Microsoft Corporation; Trina Eaddy, Senior Counsel in the Government Sector of Philips Electronics North America; and Monica Allison-Ceruti, Chief Counsel of the NASA Stennis Space Center. Ms. Norwood also served as a panelist. More than sixty-five NBA convention-goers were in attendance.
As a result of the panel’s success, Ms. Norwood was able to obtain the requisite number of signatures to petition the NBA to establish a Section of Government Procurement within the Association, which does not currently exist. The petition will be presented to the NBA Board of Governors for consideration later this year.
Ms. Norwood was elected earlier this year as Regional Director for Region XII of the NBA for 2018-2019. As Director for Region XII, Ms. Norwood oversees one of the largest and most active of the 12 NBA regions and sits on the NBA’s Board of Governors. The National Bar Association was founded in 1925 and is the nation’s oldest and largest national network of predominantly African-American attorneys and judges.
