Jim Slattery, Kathryn Bucher, Daniel Graham and Kate McDonald Receive 2013 Burton Award for Distinguished Legal Writing

Wiley Rein LLP attorneys Jim Slattery, chair of the firm's Public Policy Practice, Kathryn Bucher, co-chair of the Health Care Practice, Daniel P. Graham, a partner in the Government Contracts Practice and Kate R. McDonald, an associate in the Health Care and Insurance Practices, have been named recipients of a 2013 Burton Distinguished Legal Writing Award for their article, "Supreme Court Affirms Opportunities and Uncertainties for Health Care Contractors." The Academic Board, which reviews articles published within the last year, was led by Virginia Wise, Harvard Law School; Anne E. Kringel, University of Pennsylvania Law School; Grace Tonner, University of California Law School at Irvine; Judge Ed Forstenzer; California's Superior Court (retired); and William Ryan, former Chair of the White House Plain Language Committee.

Established in 1999, the Burton Awards is a unique national awards program with the principal focus on effective legal writing.  The founder, William C. Burton, served as a New York State Assistant Attorney General and an Assistant New York State Special Prosecutor; he is the author of Burton's Legal Thesaurus.

The award will be presented to this year's 30 winners on June 3, 2013 in a ceremony at the Library of Congress. More information on the 2013 Burton Awards can be found here.
