Partner Kathleen A. Kirby Receives Rob Downey Citation

April 17, 2008

Kathleen A. Kirby, a partner in Wiley Rein’s Communications Practice, was honored on April 14, 2008 by the Radio-Television News Directors Association (RTNDA) and its foundation (RTNDF), which awarded her the annual Rob Downey Citation for exceptional service.  Ms. Kirby, who serves as counsel to the RTNDA, shares this year’s honor with RTNDF's counsel, David Evans, a partner with the Washington law firm, Reed Smith.

During the presentation, which took place before RTNDA conference attendees at their opening breakfast in Las Vegas, RTNDA chairman Bill Roswell noted, “This is both a personal and professional honor for me in recognizing these two folks.  It’s personal, because I count both of them as good friends, and professional because they work exceptionally hard on behalf of RTNDA and RTNDF, meaning they really work on your behalf.”

In addition to specializing in media and First Amendment issues, Ms. Kirby represents broadcast clients, including major radio and television group owners, on regulatory and transactional matters before the Federal Communications Commission.  Frequently recognized for her work, she has been inducted into the National Freedom of Information Act Hall of Fame and is named by Chambers USA as one of “America’s Leading Business Lawyers.”

The RTNDA is the world’s largest professional organization devoted exclusively to electronic journalism, representing local and network news professionals in broadcasting, cable and other electronic media in more than 30 countries.
