Martha Marrapese Quoted by Inside PFAS Regarding New Mexico PFAS Law Changes

Martha E. Marrapese, partner in Wiley's Environment & Product Regulation Practice, was quoted by Inside PFAS in the article, "Industry Worries Over Transition Time For New Mexico PFAS Law Changes," regarding what New Mexico's Environment Department should take into account when considering changes to the state's PFAS law.

Marrapese urged the department to “take into account that a number of exempt equipment products primarily use fluoropolymers and also [Significant New Alternatives Policy (SNAP)] refrigerants and [fluorinated gases],” noting that, “Fluoropolymers. . . do not contribute to water contamination incidents. In the case of the SNAP refrigerants, they’re super critical for meeting climate and also vehicle emission requirements and equipment emission requirements and have federal preemption considerations around them. . . . Despite the definition of PFAS, which is broad, we all recognize that there are different types of PFAS that present different types of challenges.”
