Wiley’s Karen Toto Earns Business Insurance Magazine’s 2020 ‘Break Out’ Award

May 4, 2020

Washington, DCKaren L. Toto, partner in Wiley Rein LLP’s Insurance Practice, has been named a recipient of a 2020 “Break Out” Award by Business Insurance magazine. Ms. Toto is among 40 winners recognized nationwide and one of only 10 honorees in the “South” region. The annual awards program recognizes the next generation of leaders in the insurance sector and is open to anyone working in the commercial insurance and risk management sector with no more than 15 years’ experience in the industry.

Ms. Toto is the only individual from a law firm who was selected this year for a Break Out Award, which recognizes risk managers, brokers, insurers, reinsurers, wholesalers, captive managers, lawyers, and other providers serving the commercial insurance sector. Recognized last year by Law360 as a “Rising Star” for insurance, Ms. Toto counsels insurers in connection with coverage issues arising under professional liability and general liability policies, and she represents her clients in coverage litigation in state and federal courts nationwide.

A profile of Ms. Toto will appear in Business Insurance’s June 2020 issue.

Wiley’s Insurance Group is the “go-to” firm for insurance carriers facing high-profile disputes and novel legal challenges. One of the most prominent insurer-side practices in the country, the 35-lawyer team represents clients in professional liability, cyber, general liability, “bad faith,” and appellate matters throughout all 50 states. Insurers rely on the firm’s deep knowledge of the insurance industry and persuasive advocacy to achieve results in high-profile and business-critical matters.
