Wiley’s John Howell Wins Business Insurance ‘Break Out’ Award

March 24, 2023

Washington, DC – Wiley Rein LLP, a preeminent DC law firm, is pleased to announce that John E. Howell, partner in the Insurance Practice, has been selected for a 2023 “Break Out” Award by Business Insurance magazine. The annual awards program honors 40 professionals on track to be the next leaders in the risk management and property/casualty insurance fields.

Howell is one of only four individuals from law firms who were selected this year for a Break Out Award, which recognizes risk managers, brokers, insurers, reinsurers, wholesalers, lawyers, and other providers serving the commercial insurance sector.

A standout partner in Wiley’s Insurance Group, Howell is trusted to handle some of the industry’s most complex and challenging cases. He helps insurers resolve significant claims arising under professional liability insurance policies covering directors and officers, financial institutions, mutual funds, investment advisors, lawyers, and other professionals and firms. In addition, he represents professional liability insurers in complex litigation in trial and appellate courts across the country and arbitrations in the United States and abroad.

A profile of Howell will be published in the June 2023 issue of Business Insurance. This year’s winners will be honored in June, at events taking place in Chicago, Los Angeles, and New York.

Wiley’s Insurance Practice is the “go-to” firm for insurance carriers facing high-profile disputes and novel legal challenges. One of the most prominent insurer-side practices in the country, the 43-lawyer team represents clients in professional liability, cyber, general liability, “bad faith,” and appellate matters throughout all 50 states.
