Robert Walker Discusses Ethics Issues Surrounding Kushner’s White House Role

NPR’s “Morning Edition”
May 8, 2017

Robert L. Walker, of counsel in Wiley Rein’s Election Law & Government Ethics Practice, was interviewed by Jackie Northam for a segment on NPR’s Morning Edition, which aired May 5, regarding Jared Kushner’s White House role and the ongoing potential for conflicts with his business interests. Mr. Kushner has taken on a senior, expanded international role in the Trump Administration but has not fully divested himself from all his New York real estate holdings.  According to ethics experts, this could cause a variety of real or perceived problems for Mr. Kushner on the ethics front.

“Navigating away from conflicts and perception of conflicts, that’s going to be a kind of permanent responsibility and obligation on his part and on the part of White House ethics officials,” said Mr. Walker.
