Peter Rechter Quoted by Communications Daily Regarding Congressional Regulation of the FCC

Peter Rechter, partner in Wiley's White Collar Defense & Government Investigations Practice, was quoted by Communications Daily in the article, "Hill Democrats Look at Ways to Counter Carr if They Win Midterms; Legislation a Long Shot," regarding potential Congressional regulation of the FCC following the midterm elections.

Much of what Democrats could “accomplish [next Congress depends] on whether they retake one or both chambers,” said Rechter, noting that legislating on matters like limiting the FCC's power usually takes more than one Congress. “It's very infrequent that a bill is released in one Congress and becomes law that same” session. He pointed to Congressional Review Act resolutions of disapproval as a more feasible short-term legislative option. He said he expects Hill Democrats will file bills “in the telecom space … that have some nexus to [their FCC] oversight agenda.”
