Michael Toner Weighs in on President Barack Obama’s Fundraising Efforts for DNC
Michael E. Toner, co-chair of Wiley Rein’s Election Law & Government Ethics Practice, was quoted in an article published last week in The Washington Post about President Barack Obama’s fundraising efforts to help erase the debt incurred by the Democratic National Committee (DNC) during his 2012 reelection campaign. The DNC has had to compete for donations with Organizing for Action, the group that grew out of Obama’s reelection campaign. “They’re competing for a lot of the same donors. That’s just the reality,” said Mr. Toner, former chairman of the Federal Election Commission. “I cannot recall a national political party, when that party controlled the White House, being in debt this late in a midterm election or any election season, ever.” To read the entire article, click here.
