FCC Extends Biennial Ownership Report Deadline

August 24, 2011

On August 23, 2011, the Media Bureau of the Federal Communications Commission (FCC or Commission) announced that all commercial full-power AM, FM, TV, LPTV and Class A stations, as well as entities with attributable interests in those stations, have until December 1, 2011 to submit their FCC Form 323 ownership reports.  This marks a one month extension from the original deadline.  All information included in the filing should be current as of October 1, 2011.

In 2009, the FCC established a uniform reporting deadline for those entities listed above to file biennial ownership reports.  In the two subsequent reporting periods, however, the Commission has extended the deadline.  The Media Bureau Order recognizes that many licensees and parent entities will have to file numerous forms and suggests that the additional time will "ensure that all filers provide the Commission with accurate and reliable data on which the Commission may rely for research and other purposes."
