Ted Howard Honored by Washington Council of Lawyers with Justice Impact Award

November 20, 2023

Washington, DC – Wiley Rein LLP, a preeminent DC law firm, is pleased to announce that Pro Bono Partner Theodore A. Howard has been selected for a 2023 Justice Impact Award from the Washington Council of Lawyers.

Hailed by the Council as “the quietest legend you will ever meet,” Howard is the first-ever law firm attorney to receive this prestigious annual award. He will receive the award at a December 6 ceremony in Washington, along with four other honorees in different categories.

“Ted’s influence transcends individual clients and extends to the legal community as a whole," the Washington Council of Lawyers said in announcing Howard as the 2023 recipient in the inaugural “Law Firm Lawyers” category. “He is ever ready to mentor, support, and encourage pro bono work” and has “inspired hundreds of attorneys to engage in high-quality pro bono work” at Wiley.

The Justice Impact Awards celebrate attorneys who “make exceptional contributions to the pro bono and public-interest community,” according to the Council, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that works to expand access to justice and create a public-interest minded community in DC.

The Washington Council of Lawyers “is an essential element of the DC pro bono and legal services communities through its vital convening, training, advocacy and mentoring services,” said Howard, who is a member of the Council’s Honorary Board. “I am so honored and humbled to be recognized alongside the other award recipients, and I look forward to continuing collaboration with the Council in the future.”

Wiley prides itself on a strong tradition of service to the local and global community and encourages its attorneys and legal assistants to participate in pro bono activities. To learn more about Wiley’s Pro Bono Program, click here.
