Caleb Burns Discusses Obama Cabinet Member's Use of Private Plane for Official Business

Caleb P. Burns, a partner in Wiley Rein’s Election Law & Government Ethics Practice, was quoted in an article published today by Politico about Commerce Secretary Penny Pritzker’s use of her private jet for official business. According to the article, Ms. Pritzker—who has an estimated worth of $2 billion—does not seek reimbursement from the government for the use of her private jet on official business, thereby avoiding any ethical pitfall.

“It’s analogous to a government worker using their own personal car,” Mr. Burns said. “It’s actually saving the government money.”
