Wiley’s Litigation Group and Global Disputes Practice Lead Gregory Williams Named to Benchmark Litigation Shortlists
Washington, DC – The Litigation Group of Wiley Rein LLP and Global Disputes Practice lead Gregory M. Williams have been named to Benchmark Litigation’s 2023 shortlists for “Washington, DC Law Firm of the Year” and “International Arbitration Litigator of the Year,” respectively.
The highly selective awards, based on months of peer-review research, recognize the “most distinguished litigators and their firms for their exemplary work over the past 12 months,” according to Benchmark. This year’s winners will be announced at a ceremony in New York on March 15, 2023.
Wiley was one of only eight law firms that made Benchmark’s shortlist for the District of Columbia. The firm’s Litigation Practice boasts a diverse team of the most highly credentialed lawyers, including former U.S. Supreme Court, federal circuit, and federal district court clerks, as well as former federal prosecutors. The team has successfully briefed and argued cases in the U.S. Supreme Court, every federal circuit, many district courts, and numerous state supreme courts.
Williams was one of seven top practitioners Benchmark named to its shortlist for International Arbitration Litigator of the Year. As head of the firm’s Global Disputes Group, Williams serves as lead counsel in multiple high-profile, high-stakes litigation and international arbitration proceedings involving several billions of dollars in dispute. His matters are frequently multifaceted, with parallel or related proceedings in multiple fora.
As announced in October 2022, Williams and four other Wiley partners were earlier named Litigation Stars in Benchmark Litigation 2023, a prestigious guide to the world’s top litigation firms and attorneys. Recognized on that list along with Williams were Attison L. Barnes, III and Richard W. Smith, partners in the firm’s Litigation Practice; Ralph J. Caccia, chair of the White Collar Defense & Government Investigations Practice; and Tatiana Sainati (named a “Future Star”), partner in the Global Disputes and Litigation practices.
