August 6, 2020

Washington, DC – Wiley is pleased to announce that Kendra Perkins Norwood, a senior associate in the firm’s Government Contracts Practice, has been elected Chair of the National Bar Association’s (NBA) Government Procurement Law Section, which was founded in March 2019 after Ms. Norwood petitioned the Board of Governors to form the new Section. She had been serving as Acting Chair prior to the election as Section Chair. The election was held on Sunday, July 26, during the NBA annual convention.

The successful inaugural NBA Government Procurement Law Forum, held on Saturday, July 25 – the day prior to the convention – attracted more than 100 virtual attendees.

Ms. Norwood was re-elected to the NBA Board of Governors for 2020-2021 as one of the nine Section Representatives (elected from among the Chairs of the NBA’s 24 Sections) with seats on the Board. She will serve as a Section Representative representing the Government Procurement Law Section.

In addition, after completing her two-year term (2018-2019) as the Regional Director for NBA Region XII, Ms. Norwood was honored for her service during a Special Meeting of the Region that took place during the NBA annual convention.

At Wiley, Ms. Norwood counsels government contractors, subcontractors, and grant recipients on a range of legal issues. She routinely litigates bid protests, size protests, prime-sub disputes and contract appeals, in addition to representing clients in FOIA disputes and government investigations. She also regularly counsels clients on compliance with various government procurement laws and regulations.

The National Bar Association was founded in 1925 and is the nation's oldest and largest national network of predominantly African American attorneys and judges. It represents the interests of approximately 100,000 lawyers, judges, law professors, and law students. The NBA is organized around 23 substantive law sections, 10 divisions, 12 regions, and over 80 affiliate chapters throughout the United States and around the world.
