Kendra Norwood Elected Regional Director for Region XII of the National Bar Association

Washington, DC — Wiley Rein LLP associate Kendra P. Norwood was recently elected Regional Director for Region XII of the National Bar Association (NBA) for 2018-2019. As Director for Region XII, which encompasses the District of Columbia, Ms. Norwood will oversee one of the largest and most active of the 12 NBA regions and will sit on the NBA’s Board of Governors.

As Regional Director, Ms. Norwood will serve as the liaison between the affiliate chapters in the DC region and the NBA Board. She will provide assistance and guidance to the chapters as they implement initiatives such as Election Protection and the Martin Luther King, Jr. Drum Major for Justice Advocacy Competition.

An attorney in the firm’s Government Contracts Practice, Ms. Norwood counsels government contractors, subcontractors, and grant recipients on a range of legal issues. She handles bid protests before federal agencies, the U.S. Government Accountability Office, the U.S. Court of Federal Claims, and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit. She also litigates contractor claims and disputes before the Civilian and Armed Services Boards of Contract Appeals and in state and federal courts.

Ms. Norwood was a member of the 2017 class of Leadership Council on Legal Diversity (LCLD) Pathfinders, a program that trains early-career attorneys in critical professional development strategies to help strengthen their leadership skills and build strong business and collegial networks. Ms. Norwood has previously served as Deputy Director of Region XII of the NBA. She is also Vice Chair of the Section’s Legislative Coordinating Committee as well as its Diversity Committee.

The National Bar Association was founded in 1925 and is the nation’s oldest and largest national network of predominantly African-American attorneys and judges. It represents the interests of approximately 65,000 lawyers, judges, law professors and law students. The NBA is organized around 23 substantive law sections, 9 divisions, 12 regions, and 80 affiliate chapters throughout the United States and around the world.
