Wiley Rein Attorneys Address Major FTC Case in Bloomberg BNA Article

Wiley Rein attorneys Megan L. Brown and Caroline Rose Van Wie published an article, “FTC v. Wyndham Argument Underscores the Importance of Developing Federal Cybersecurity Policy,” which appeared in last month's issue of Bloomberg BNA's Telecommunications Law Resource Center.

In the piece, the attorneys analyze the impact of the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) challenge of Wyndham Hotels over data security policies.  The court case promises to test the FTC's authority to enforce such regulations.  Ms. Brown and Ms. Van Wie, in giving a detailed background of the case, note that a Cybersecurity Framework being developed under President Obama's 2013 Cybersecurity Executive Order could be used as a guide for the FTC and courts to decide what companies should be expected to do to protect data.
