Wiley Rein & Fielding Adds ERISA Expertise

At the beginning of 2002, Wiley Rein & Fielding LLP expanded its practice through the addition of the employee benefits expertise of partner David Levin and associate Elizabeth Binder. This practice addresses issues under the Employee Retirement Income Security Act ("ERISA") and other federal and state regulation of benefits.

David Levin joins WRF as a partner and brings more than 24 years of experience with ERISA in private practice and the government. His practice includes employee benefits counseling and litigation for single-employer and multi-employer pension and welfare plans. Mr. Levin litigates in federal and state courts in cases involving ERISA fiduciary breaches, plan terminations, employee benefits in bankruptcy, tax liability, and employee plan related professional malpractice. He also defends employers and plans before the Department of Labor, the Internal Revenue Service, and the Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation. In addition, Mr. Levin is a frequent lecturer and author on employee benefits topics. His written work includes the ERISA Fiduciary Answer Book.

Elizabeth Binder joins WRF as an associate specializing in federal tax aspects of employee benefit plans and ERISA fiduciary issues. She has expertise in the resolution of various Internal Revenue Service tax qualification issues faced by employee benefit plans and plan sponsors.
