Dan Pickard Discusses Latest CIT Ruling on Diamond Sawblades

November 11, 2015

Daniel B. Pickard, a partner in Wiley Rein’s International Trade Practice, was quoted in an article published yesterday in Law360 discussing a ruling by the U.S. Court of International Trade (CIT).

In its decision the CIT remanded the Department of Commerce’s (Commerce) results of the third administrative review for 2011-2012 and asked the agency to justify the extent of antidumping duties to be applied to a large group of Chinese diamond sawblade companies, collectively known as ATM.  Mr. Pickard, who represents the Diamond Sawblades Manufacturers’ Coalition, stated “This large Chinese producer has been found to be controlled by the government of China and will be assessed antidumping duties at the China-wide rate.”

“Commerce will determine if the most appropriate rate is 164 percent or 82 percent, but either way, significant antidumping duties will finally be paid by this company. This will have a substantial beneficial effect on U.S. pricing and U.S. shipments,”  said Mr. Pickard.
