Jan Baran Discusses Effects of Obama Administration's Lobbying Restrictions
Jan Witold Baran, co-chair of Wiley Rein’s Election Law & Government Ethics Practice, was quoted by The Washington Post in a March 22 article about the effects of lobbying restrictions President Obama issued after taking office in 2009.
Federal law requires lobbyists to register with the government if they spend at least 20% of their time lobbying, according to the article. Many people have changed their lobbying statuses in response to the White House policy, Mr. Baran told the Post.
“After the executive order, there was a wave of examinations of ‘Gee, do I really need to be a registered lobbyist under the law?’” he said.
